Discovery Hall Programs leads the K-12 Field Classes at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab. Each class is designed to meet the Alabama Course of Study Standards in Science for each age group of students with a variety of field trips, labs, and discussions. These programs are available from September through May and are by reservation only.
STEM education has become increasingly important as Alabama looks to the future. While still offering a robust program of student classes, camps, competitions, and workshops focusing on ROVs, remotely operated vehicles, DHP has expanded its ROV program to include other STEM classes and activities.
Educator Resources and Workshops
Discovery Hall Programs (DHP) provides professional learning opportunities and resources for teachers and nonformal educators. Virtual and onsite workshops include discussions with experts, relevant lesson plans and activities, and experiences in the field. There are also resources developed by DISL faculty for use in any teaching environment. These resources include posters, lesson plans, and games.
Discovery Hall Programs (DHP) offers internship opportunities for students to learn more about the field of environmental education and marine science through assisting in our outdoor classes, summer camps, outreach events, and workshops.
